Linking Vendors to Manufacturers
If a brand or manufacturer has different production sites that specialize in certain machines/vehicles, you can register this in the system. For this, it is required that every location (or every machine factory) is registered as a separate vendor. The vendor locations can then be linked to a manufacturer. This has the advantage that the corresponding vendor can be selected when choosing a manufacturer and the corresponding vendor information may be added automatically to the document.
To link one or multiple vendors to a manufacturer, proceed as follows:
Note
It is not possible to link a vendor to multiple manufacturers. Each vendor can only be linked to a single manufacturer.
- Use the quick search (ALT+Q) to find the Manufacturers page.
- Click New in the menu bar to set up a new manufacturer.
or
Click Edit List in the menu bar to edit an existing manufacturer. - Use the Code column to enter a code that will be used for the manufacturer.
- Use the Name column to enter the name of the manufacturer.
- Click the stored value in the Vendors column.
- If the Vendors column displays the More value, at least two vendors are linked to this manufacturer.
- The window Manufacturer Vendors is displayed.
- Use the Vendor No. column to enter the number of the vendor you want to link to the selected manufacturer code.
- Use a new line for every vendor you want to link to a manufacturer.
- Click Close to save the changes.
Tip
For more information on the stored vendors, click the Vendor Name in the FactBox area (ALT+F2).
You have successfully linked a vendor to a manufacturer.
Tip
When carrying out, e.g., a calculation worksheet, instead of using the vendor number you can also enter the respective vendor via the manufacturer.
